Designated as one of Me.reka's flagship programme, Me.reka Belia 1.0 is a youth development programme for the community of PPR Lembah Subang. This programme aims to upskill and equip underprivileged youths of low-income households/community with digital skills for future careers, to enable them to increase income and achieve career progression.
Project Objective 1: Implementing a Youth-Led Community Based Approach to understand the exact needs of the PPR Lembah Subang Youth, and match that needs with the skills development program and a suitable location to run the programs.
Project Objective 2: The implementation of the Digital Skills Development Program for 50 PPR Youths over a 6-month pilot period from 3 different categories for school-based youths, unemployed youths and employed youths who are earning below RM2,000.
Project Objective 3: Establishing Youth Based Ownership and Recognition programme. The larger purpose is to recognize, support and further develop ideas that are driven by the youths and to allow them to see the pathway of their learning and entrepreneurship journeys.
Project Objective 4: Documenting impact created through the PPR Digital Skills Development Programme, its qualitative value, and continuous mentorship.
By providing underprivileged youth with an opportunity to harness new-age skills and upskilling to assemble a set of employable capabilities, the youths will be able to become self-sustaining individuals with the capacity to support their families.
The classes were conducted through a blended-learning approach where learners view pre-recorded lessons prior to attending tutorials, and then attend classes to practice newly learned knowledge/skills.
The Digital Development Programme trained 50 B40 youths and provided hardware & digital tools to access digital resources. Digital skills and entrepreneurial exposure were also instilled along with digital literacy certificates, complimentary tables, and micro-funding.
